Airen Yocum is a composer and publisher, dedicated to exploring a wide range of musical styles, from classical to contemporary. His diverse experiences as a performer and composer shape his distinctive artistic voice.

At Murray State, graduating with a B.M. in Composition, Airen was an active member of ensembles such as the Wind Ensemble, Una Voce, Trombone Choir, Brass Choir, Jazz Band, Marching Band, and Pep Band. He spent his time there honing his craft in composition, publication, conducting, and performing.

As a composer, he draws inspiration from his surroundings, blending elements from various genres and mediums to create compelling and expressive works. His compositions include pieces for trombone choir, piano, woodwind quintet, choir, and more.

His piece Slide Quest was performed by the Murray State Trombone Choir at the annual KMEA conference in Louisville, Kentucky. His works have also been performed by talented student musicians at numerous Murray State concerts, with regular features in the university’s new music concerts each semester.

Passionate about continual growth, Airen looks forward to expanding his compositional voice and creating innovative music in the years ahead.
